~Character Opinions About Older Yumi~
She Is All Grown Up
[/i]
Childhood friend, who the hero hasn't seen in a long time, returns and much to his surprise, is stunning now. He realizes that his friend that he never thought of "that way" really can be thought of "that way," usually as she starts dating someone else. If he gets her in the end, it will invariably be revealed that she had been in love with him all along; she just needed a new hairstyle and contacts for him to finally notice her.
Belly Dancer[/i]
Typically, a woman who wears a midriff revealing outfit and a lot of jewelry. She does movements of her stomach that can cause nausea in those of weak stomachs. Occasionally, men do belly dancing too, but this is less common and may be played up for humor.
Boobs Of Steel[/i]
The simplest explanation is that the woman is simply bigger than the other female characters, or simply older and thus more fully grown and developed, or both at once. In any case, her greater general size leads to both larger breasts as well as greater muscle-mass and leverage.
If all of the female characters are physically active and she is the oldest, it can also be assumed she's been actively building strength and learning how to use it longer than her juniors have.
Sexually, this could be boiled down to a function of fanservice: a Law of Skin-To-Strength Ratio. Take the classic barbarian of either sex — they wear little and bare a lot of skin, but are incredibly reliant upon brute strength. The more flesh they have to bare, the more strength they bring to bear. While this trope doesn't rely on explicitly bared skin, the female's attire will seldom hide her impressive shape, and instead tend to emphasize it. (Or, in the more extreme cases, perhaps they merely need to be that strong in order to stand up straight.)
Visually, it's a fairly simple design point: the artist wants to indicate and reinforce the notion of physical strength. A large-breasted female tends to look larger overall, and more solidly built. The other route for showing obvious physical strength would be giving the woman a massive bodybuilder physique. As the former is more commonly appealing, and the latter is more commonly intimidating, you can see the obvious choice.
Of course, neither route is particularly realistic. The goal and result of bodybuilding is to achieve the largest possible muscles — while this does grant more strength, it is not the same as achieving the most possible muscle strength; in fact, it hinders that. The strongest men and women are commonly quite wiry.
Broken Bird[/i]
he female version of Troubled But Cute (though an especially sensitive TBC with a particularly tragic backstory can look and act more like this particular trope, look at some examples below), these characters tend to include similar amounts of cynicism and badassery.
Their deep experience and emotional detachment almost always gives the impression of competence, though they don't always live up to their own hype. Varying between Cool Big Sis, Emotionless Girl, Little Miss Snarker and The Daria, they mark themselves as more experienced and worldly than the other characters, even if the Competence Zone means they themselves are barely out of their teens.
In fact, they can sometimes fill a mentor role for less experienced and more idealistic characters, all the while loudly expressing their irritation with said arrangement, so no one gets the impression they're softening up. Sometimes this is to Jerkass levels; however, they are most often a sympathetic Jerk With A Heart Of Gold, giving a impression of independent toughness to hide a sincere affection for the other characters.
Expect a tragic backstory. This character was a hero herself once and failed miserably, or maybe she was abused some way as a kid; whatever the case, her cynicism undoubtedly stems from some traumatic event in her past that destroyed her faith in just about everything. This revelation is normally accompanied by a Freak Out, said past often delivered in a bitter diatribe towards someone who proved a bit too stubborn in their desire to know what it was. At this point tears are guaranteed, probably more of them the less she's expressed emotion in the past. She also has a 65% chance of engaging in serious physical violence against whoever is closest at the time. This is always treated seriously and Broken Birds have a tendency to be both prone to violence and very good at it, therefore potential love interests should always prepare to be at least slightly maimed during these breakdowns.
